New Ante Natal Class

I am starting a new Ante Natal class in my studio on 7th August. The class will be at 15:45 to 16:45 on Saturdays and will cost £40 for 5 sessions. Classes at the Newly Refurbished Crescent Arts Centre

The enrollment night for the Crescent Arts Centre was on Tuesday 4th May. There are spaces left in my Friday Intermediate class.

If you have missed out on the beginner classes you wanted at the Crescent Arts Centre these my other classes with availability;

These classes, all suitable for beginners, are ongoing and there is no enrolment required. Please contact me on 07919172941 prior to attending your first class.

If you have access to a Membership Plus or PERKS discount card, you don't need to be the named person on the card, you get 25% off the LA Fitness class each time you attended!! Pay £3 only, normal price £4. You can also get 25% off your first 6 lessons at the classes at Jacqui Philpott's Dance Studio & St Bernadette's Parish Centre, £22.50 instead of £30!!

Classes at Jacqui Philpott's Dance Studio & St Bernadette's Parish Centre, cost £30 for 6 lessons, which, unlike the Crescent Arts Centre classes, do not need to be taken consecutively, or £6 per class.

The International House class costs £5 per class.

The LA Fitness class costs £4 per class due to it being a 45 minute class.

If you have a Yoga/exercise mat you should bring it for classes in St Bernadette's and Jacqui Philpott's although I do supply a limited number of mats. You need to bring a mat to the Crescent Arts Centre classes and the International House class. Mats are supplied at LA Fitness.

I also do 1-2-1 sessions in my studio at weekends. 1-2-1 sessions are tailored to your needs and last for 1 hour at a cost of £30. You will be able to use equipment such as stability balls, a stability disc, dumbbells, medicine balls, core rollers and flex bands of various strengths. My studio is at my home so please ring me on the numbers listed below, the mobile is most likely to get me, if you require anymore information or details of the address.

Ganiel-O'Neill Shatters PB in London Marathon - 25 April 2010

Abbey's Gladys Ganiel-O'Neill, who regularly attends two of my classes each week, had the race of her life in the London Marathon when she took no less than 5 minutes off her PB from last year's Amsterdam Marathon to record outstanding new figures of 2hrs 41mins 45secs. Gladys has now achieved the qualifying standard for the USA Olympic trials.

This time places the 33 year old in 3rd place on N. Ireland's All Time list behind Teresa Duffy(2.35) and Moira O'Neill(2.37).

An ecstatic Gladys said;
"I am clearly very pleased at how things went. As my half way time of 79mins 30secs was faster than I had planned I knew that I was running at my maximum.

Things got hard after 16 miles but I hung on over the last 6 miles and didn't slow down as much as in the past. I now accept that the marathon is my best event and I will be concentrating on the distance from now on."

Gladys plans to take things easy in the summer months by competing in some road races in preparation for the Dublin Marathon in the autumn.

I'm going to London tomorrow to do two courses with the Pilates Institute. "Knee and foot" and "Healthy Back" are the two courses. I have already completed the courses "Pregnancy and Pilates", Seniors and Pilates", "Sacroiliac Joint and Hip" and "Shoulder girdle and Neck".

Gladys Ganiel O'Neill wins Gold at the ChampionChip Ireland NI & Ulster Senior Cross Country Championships

Congratulations to Gladys Ganiel O'Neill, who attends my Monday evening class at 20:30 in St Bernadette's Parish Centre and my Friday lunchtime class non-members class at LA Fitness Adelaide Street at 12:30, on her gold medal winning performance at the ChampionChip Ireland NI & Ulster Senior Cross Country Championships held on Saturday 13 February 2010 at the Stormont Estate, Belfast.

Gladys won the ladies race in a time of 20 minutes 59 seconds over the 6km circuit to beat Finn Valley's Theresa McGloin, who finished eight seconds back. North Belfast's Breege Connolly was third.

Naomie Harris

I was lucky enough to teach Naomie Harris when she was in Belfast filming the BBC prodution "Small Island". I learned a lot from teaching Naomie and the biggest complement I can pay her, and I'm sure she will agree as she once said her greatest success was not being recognised in the streets of her native London, is that she was so ordinary and unassuming. In fact, she was more than happy to be just another member of the class. Naomie has starred in "28 Days Later", "Trauma", "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest", "Miami Vice", "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End", "Ninja Assassin" and many more film and TV productions. I hope I get to teach Naomie again in the future and I'm delighted that she also told me to feel free to use this recommendation;

The guy on the couch is actor and comedian Diarmuid Corr who attends my classes in LA Fitness. Diarmuid is a standup comedian and can be seen at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast as a guest of Kevin Gildea on June 26 / 27, tickets cost £13. Ganiel-O’Neill runs 2:47:53 at London - Monday, April 27, 2009

A phenomenal run by Gladys Ganiel-O’Neill saw her finish fourth in the female open category at the London marathon in an outstanding time of 2:47:53.
Ganiel-O’Neill had refused to give herself the marathoner’s curse by predicting a finishing time for the race, but an impressive 1:19:08 in the Hague half marathon and a solid 36:18 at the Titanic Quarter 10k indicated that her preparations were going extremely well.
The Abbey AC runner’s time was good enough to take her to 5th in the Northern Ireland list of all-time best female marathon performances.
Ganiel-O’Neill’s 10km splits were, 38:41, 38:31, 39:15, 41:47 (final 2.2km in 9:39).
Ganiel-O’Neill’s clubmate Turlough Donnelly finished in 148th position in a time of 2:38:31.
The London marathon is one of the world’s biggest charity fundraising events and both Gladys and Turlough were running in aid of Zimbabwe Orphan Care. You can still sponsor them by visiting their online fundraising page at www.justgiving.com/gladysandturlough.

New Neilpilates instructor in Letterkenny

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL THE ICE TOUR

I was pleased to have the opportunity to teach Michelle, Micah and Dominic who where in Northern Ireland skating with Disney's High School Musical The Ice Tour. It was great for me to be able to teach such genuinely nice people who really enjoyed their Pilates. The girls seemed to enjoy the gluteus medious exercises the most and I suspect that they may become part of their regular routine. Unfortunately I didn't ask them their surnames so Michelle, Micah and Dominic if are reading this it would be great if you could get in touch as it would be brilliant if I could show some pictures and say a bit about your previous shows and achievements.
