The Sound Of Music
I have recently taught, in my Fiday 12:30 LA Fitness class, two of the actresses performing in the Sound of Music at the Grand Opera House, Belfast. Jenna and Vivian were both very friendly, "down to earth" people.

Gladys Ganiel O'Neill wins Gold at the ChampionChip Ireland NI & Ulster Senior Cross Country Championships Congratulations to Gladys Ganiel O'Neill, who attends my Monday evening class at 20:30 in St Bernadette's Parish Centre and my Friday lunchtime class non-members class at LA Fitness Adelaide Street at 12:30, on her gold medal winning performance at the ChampionChip Ireland NI & Ulster Senior Cross Country Championships held on Saturday 13 February 2010 at the Stormont Estate, Belfast. Gladys won the ladies race in a time of 20 minutes 59 seconds over the 6km circuit to beat Finn Valley's Theresa McGloin, who finished eight seconds back. North Belfast's Breege Connolly was third.

January - March term at The Crescent Arts Centre
Intermediate Class

Open Night for the new term at the The Crescent Arts Centre took place on 11 January 2010 with classes beginning 21/22 January 2010. It's a 9 week term and costs £45 (not £60 as shown in the brochure). Both of the beginner classes are now full. If you missed out on the Beginner classes there are spaces in my Thursday evening class a Jacqui Philpott's Dance Studio at 20:30 which is further up the Ormeau Road behind the CO-OP off Knockbreda Park, Friday morning 09:15 at St Benadette's Parish Centre Rosetta Road, Friday lunchtime 12:30 at LA Fitness Adelaide Street and Friday afternoon 16:00 at International House University Street. Unlike the Crescent Arts Centre classes you don't need to enroll for these classes just give me a call on 02890583228 or 07919172941 to let me know you are coming or to get more information.

Naomie Harris I was lucky enough to teach Naomie Harris when she was in Belfast filming the BBC prodution "Small Island". I learned a lot from teaching Naomie and the biggest complement I can pay her, and I'm sure she will agree as she once said her greatest success was not being recognised in the streets of her native London, is that she was so ordinary and unassuming. In fact, she was more than happy to be just another member of the class. Naomie has starred in "28 Days Later", "Trauma", "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest", "Miami Vice", "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End", "Ninja Assassin" and many more film and TV productions. I hope I get to teach Naomie again in the future and I'm delighted that she also told me to feel free to use this recommendation; "While filming 'Small Island' in Belfast I attended classes with Neil Healey. I genuinely can't recommend him enough. He is an extremely experienced, caring, perceptive and skilled teacher... without a doubt, one of the best I've worked with in the Pilates field." My new 1-2-1 / 2-2-1 studio is now open and I am taking bookings. A 1 hour 1-2-1 session costs £30 and a 2-2-1 session £40. 1-2-1 sessions are the best way to do Pilates. Everything is geared to suit your needs and goals and you can use equipment such as stability balls, a club roller, a stability disc, ankle / wrist weights, bands, dumbells etc to help you. So why not treat yourself to a 1-2-1 or bring a friend or partner for a 2-2-1?

Thinkbox Box TV ad campaign
The guy on the couch is actor and comedian Diarmuid Corr who attends my classes in LA Fitness. Diarmuid is a standup comedian and can be seen at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast as a guest of Kevin Gildea on June 26 / 27, tickets cost £13. He has also appeared in the films Merman, Miss Conception and The Race.
Ganiel-O’Neill runs 2:47:53 at London - Monday, April 27, 2009
A phenomenal run by Gladys Ganiel-O’Neill saw her finish fourth in the female open category at the London marathon in an outstanding time of 2:47:53.
Ganiel-O’Neill had refused to give herself the marathoner’s curse by predicting a finishing time for the race, but an impressive 1:19:08 in the Hague half marathon and a solid 36:18 at the Titanic Quarter 10k indicated that her preparations were going extremely well.
The Abbey AC runner’s time was good enough to take her to 5th in the Northern Ireland list of all-time best female marathon performances.
Ganiel-O’Neill’s 10km splits were, 38:41, 38:31, 39:15, 41:47 (final 2.2km in 9:39).
Ganiel-O’Neill’s clubmate Turlough Donnelly finished in 148th position in a time of 2:38:31.
The London marathon is one of the world’s biggest charity fundraising events and both Gladys and Turlough were running in aid of Zimbabwe Orphan Care. You can still sponsor them by visiting their online fundraising page at www.justgiving.com/gladysandturlough.

New Neilpilates instructor in Letterkenny
I'm happy to add Jacqueline McHugh to the list of Neilpilates instructors. I acted as an observer during some of Jacqueline's Active IQ Level 3 Pilates Course and was impressed by her teaching style. Above is a photo of Gladys Ganiel, who goes twice a week to my classes, taken after she has just won the Between the Bridges Westlink 10k in Belfast on 8 March 2009. She also came second in the Northern Ireland cross country championships in January and is training for the London Marathon.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL THE ICE TOUR
I was pleased to have the opportunity to teach Michelle, Micah and Dominic who where in Northern Ireland skating with Disney's High School Musical The Ice Tour. It was great for me to be able to teach such genuinely nice people who really enjoyed their Pilates. The girls seemed to enjoy the gluteus medious exercises the most and I suspect that they may become part of their regular routine. Unfortunately I didn't ask them their surnames so Michelle, Micah and Dominic if are reading this it would be great if you could get in touch as it would be brilliant if I could show some pictures and say a bit about your previous shows and achievements. I hope they have a great tour!
